
Glucocorticoids have become standard treatment for acute relapses in MS, but there is debate on any beneficial, long-term immunosuppressive effects. The dose and frequency of IV administration and the possibility of substituting oral therapy are also areas of confusion. In this program viewers will learn of the controversies in the administration of steroids (several regimens of IV administration; IV vs. high dose oral administration; use of steroids as longer-term disease modifying agents). Additional therapies such as IV immunoglobulin and other immunosuppressives will likewise be discussed.
