| Abstract - Secondary Progressive MS |
|
The course of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is highly unpredictable and the onset and speed of progression to severe disability vary from patient to patient. The extent of recovery from the initial damage, the frequency and severity of relapses, the level of disability and the length of remissions all vary from patient to patient. Nevertheless, although every individual will experience a different combination of MS symptoms, there exist distinct disease stages and/or types that have been identified as the naturally occurring course of Multiple Sclerosis. Today's Conversation will focus on one of these stages: Secondary/Progressive MS - a clinical course of MS which initially is Relapsing/Remitting. This phase presents a pattern of clear-cut relapses and recovery, and then becomes steadily progressive, albeit at a variable rate, with continued worsening between occasional acute attacks.. |
